How the ranking is ordered
Each board sorts in its own direction, so the best score is always on top. You never have to work out which way is up. That matters because the tests do not all score the same way.
- Lower wins: reaction time, the F1 start, the aim test, the Focus Test, the Stroop Test and the 10 Second Challenge. Their scores are times or misses, like time per target on the aim test.
- Higher wins: everything else. You climb with more digits held, a longer pattern repeated, or more words called correctly before three strikes.
If two people have the same score, whoever got on the board first sits higher. Arcades have always done it this way. We like it because it needs no extra data about either player.
Leaderboard rules
- No sign-up: Finish the game, type a nickname (up to 16 letters, or 8 Korean characters), and you are on the board right away.
- Same nickname: Submit again under the same name and only the better score stays.
- What is public: Every visitor can see your nickname and score. If you submit nothing, nothing is shown.
- No resets for now: While the site is young, boards keep growing. Once a board passes roughly a thousand names, seasonal resets will start, and we will announce them here first.
- A board for every game: Each test has its own leaderboard, and this page lists them all. The daily challenge is one featured game on top of that.
We used to clear the boards every night. That kept them empty, and an empty board is no fun. So scores now build up over time. When a game passes 1,000 players, we will switch to regular seasonal resets and announce each one before the season ends.
Each difficulty mode has its own board, apart from standard mode. Mixing them would rank people who played different tasks. Typing is split by language for the same reason, and the aim test keeps separate boards for mouse and touch.
Abuse prevention
A board with no accounts is easy to cheat on. So we built the defenses into the site itself.
- The server rejects scores no human could physically produce.
- Nicknames with profanity or bits of code cannot be registered.
- Every submission needs a token signed by the server.
- A score that arrives sooner than the game could be played is rejected.
- Too many requests in a short time are turned away.
If a bad entry still gets through, we remove it by hand. Once seasonal resets begin, the regular clearing will add one more layer of defense.
How the daily challenge works
Each day, one test becomes the daily challenge, and its board is locked to the date. Everyone plays the exact same layout on any device. That is what makes the ranking a fair contest.
The daily number (#N) and your streak count only your first completed run of the day. Replays get a fresh board instead of the date-locked one. A board you have already seen would test your memory of the answers, not your skill. A better replay still updates the leaderboard and your personal best.
- New board at midnight: The next daily goes up at 00:00 every day.
- Reaction time is left out: A date-locked board would fix the signal timing for everyone. The test would turn into guessing the timing, so it is never the daily.
- Typing is left out too: The sentences differ by language, so there is no single board everyone could share.
Which test comes up
10 of the 13 tests take turns as the daily: Aim Test, Number Memory, Sequence Memory, Visual Memory, Chimp Test, Verbal Memory, Color Match, Focus Test, Stroop Test and 10 Second Challenge. Reaction time, the F1 start and typing sit out, for the reasons above.
The rotation runs in a fixed order, and the day number picks the test. So everyone who opens the site on the same date meets the same one. The board is built from the date, not drawn at random. There is nothing to look up in advance and nothing to reroll.
The same rule makes the same layout on every device. In our view, that is the part that makes the ranking mean anything. If each visitor got a fresh board, the ranking would compare people who played different games.
The daily and challenge links are different things
The daily is one board a day, shared by everyone, until midnight. A challenge link works the other way. Finish any ordinary run and send the link. Whoever opens it gets one try at your exact board. So the daily is an open contest anyone can join, while a challenge link is a private duel between two people.
That is why daily runs cannot be sent as challenge links. A daily board is already the same for everyone, so there is nothing to hand over. The challenge would shrink to "we both did today's test".
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no sign-up?
No part of this site asks for an account, and we mean to keep it that way. A game leaderboard does not need to know who you are. It only needs a name to show.
Do I have to join the board?
No. Your daily result is saved to your personal records whether or not you join. The leaderboard is optional, and skipping it publishes nothing.
What if my nickname matches someone else's?
You share the slot, and the better score holds it. If you want the slot to yourself, pick a name nobody else is likely to use.
When do the boards reset?
For now they do not. This early on, a daily wipe would leave the podium empty most of the time, so entries build up instead. When a board grows past roughly a thousand names, seasonal resets will begin. We will announce the change on this page before it happens.
